The Way of the Icon: Encountering its Mystery and Meaning
July 11-15, 8:30-11:30 am
Course available for: Audit/Certificate Credit/Degree Credit: Basic.
The mystery and power of the Icon has drawn spiritual seekers for centuries, which may be traced, in part, to its underlying Incarnational Theology that guides its artistic form and explains its deep relation to the self. This course will explore the Icon’s history and meaning and the whole process of its painting technique as a spiritual discipline and will include hands-on exercises. No previous artistic experience is needed; materials will be provided for a minimal fee.
Matthia Langone, Masters in Art and Spirituality (Regent College) and Doctor of Ministry (VST). Following extensive training in Vancouver, Florence and Russia, Matthia, an iconographer, has developed a series of spiritual workshops focusing on the dignity and uniqueness of the human person in relation to The Way of the Icon.
